The Phnom Penh Bar Scene

There are some stalwarts of the Cambodia bar scene, most of the action is based on street 51 in the downtown area, and you also have a lot of bars around the riverside area.  Be warned some of these bars may not be the best place to take a lady friend, there are a lot of escort bars and taxi girl bars around, if that’s your thing head down to street 51 or the streets just behind the riverside area of town.

Funky Town - BKK1

If you are looking for a more trendy area and the artier scene in Phnom Penh we suggest you take a wander around the BKK 1 area that has some pretty cool bars.  Certainly bars like Equinox, Top Banana, Score Bar and The Mad Monkey have a pretty vibrant following and you will normally find a lot of backpackers and travellers hanging around in this area.

There are a number of specialist bars popping up as well, cocktail bars and more up market wine bars, and certainly the market in the city is growing as tourism into the city increases.  There are a lot of Music venues and live music bars being fitted out at the moment, this can only be good for the overall scene.
